Old Town Academy
Mr. Turner Watts
I’m honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at Old Town Academy. Before stepping into this role, I taught middle school English for over ten years and that love for literature and language is still a big part of who I am. I believe that stories connect us, and I try to bring that same spirit of connection and curiosity into my work as a school leader.
My transition into school leadership was a natural one. I’ve always been drawn to supporting others, whether it’s helping a student navigate a tough day or partnering with a teacher to solve a classroom challenge. What I love most about Old Town Academy is the strong sense of community and the shared commitment to doing what’s best for kids.
Outside of school, I’m a Navy veteran and a proud father. Being a parent has deepened my appreciation for the work we do in schools and reminds me daily of the importance of empathy, consistency, and joy in education. When I’m not on campus, you can usually find me reading, exploring San Diego with my family.
